We know that the recent government shutdown created a great deal of uncertainty throughout our community, especially around SNAP benefits (also known as food assistance or food stamps). Our Agency and our Franklin County Commissioners remain committed to providing you with the most up-to-date information as we receive it.
Here is the latest:
As a result of the February SNAP benefits being issued early, Ohio is adjusting the March benefits schedule. March benefits will be divided into two payments. Eligible SNAP families will receive half of their March benefits by the end of February – earlier than usual. The rest of their March benefits will be issued on the date they would normally receive their food dollars.
This change – of March food benefits being distributed in two installments, not one – will occur no matter what happens in Congress this week. With or without another partial government shutdown, March assistance will still be divided into two payments.
We will continue to monitor any new developments at the federal and state level and remain committed to doing all that we can to minimize the impact on you. To help customers manage through these uncertain times, we will continue to have resources, information, and a question-and-answer page on our website.
We ask that you help us keep customers informed by monitoring our webpages as well as our social media accounts, and share this information so all customers can plan accordingly.
