If you receive Food Assistance through SNAP and are impacted by a disaster, such as a fire, flooding or power outage of at least 4 hours that results in food loss or spoilage, you can be issued Replacement Benefits. Food Assistance Replacement Benefits are added directly to your Ohio Direction Card, similar to your normal allotment.
In order to receive the Replacement Benefits, your household must have received Food Assistance within the month that the disaster occured. To apply, you must complete the JFS 07222 form, “Statement Requesting Food Assistance Replacement Benefits,” within 10 days of the loss and submit it to Franklin Couty Department of Job and Family Services.
How much will my household receive?
You can request Food Assistance Replacement Benefits for the entire amount of food that was lost or destroyed as long as it does not exceed your household's monthly SNAP allotment.
